Fortune comes in at the merry gate
Busy, Busy, Busy.
It’s always packed every single time we visit here. However, complementarily the staff manage themselves to retain the inspiring atomosphere, thoughtful service in a timely-manner, and their amazing food quality.
The place is called “Suika” meaning “Watermelon”, named by the owner Minoru with an idea of opening unique restaurants that can deliver a feeling of energizing summer in Japan. Established in 2010 as his second restaurant in Vancouver.
JAPANESE CUISINE/ VANCOUVER
First, he opened “Kingyo Izakaya” on Denman St in Downtown, then Suika Snack Bar, Rajio Japanese Public House in Point Grey, and Raisu in Kitsilano. Each store seems conscious of what the other locations strive for and excel in as being good rivals.
Dan the manager in Suika told me he always tries to keep its distinctive feature and characteristics, and at Suika that’s definitely “energetic power”. They always welcome you with dash and spirit no matter when. The spacious dining room often holds big parties. They strive to create a pleasant place that their guests can feel fun to be at.
“Beef Short Rib” is one of their signature dishes.
It’s simmered in their original broth for 4 hours and deep fried once, then marinated with their special balsamic sauce.
They’re always passionate about creating something totally new out of different cultures that guests don’t know yet.
Let them try to make you surprised at Suika!
